To report child abuse or neglect, call the DCFS Child Protection hotline at 1-855-4LA-KIDS (1-855-452-5437) toll free 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. 

What is Child Find?

Child Find is a part of the federal Individuals
with Disabilities Education Act.  Child Find is
a way for the LA State Department of Education
and local school districts to find children who
may need special education services.  Child Find is
a way to help parents know what to do if they
think their child may have a special learning
problem or disability.

West Feliciana School District may be able to help
a child who has a learning problem or disability.
With parental permission, services could include:
~ Free screening to learn if the child should be tested.
~ If screening indicates, an evaluation to see what
 type of help the child may need.
~ If the evaluation finds the child to need services,
 services may include free special education
instruction, speech services, OT, PT, and/or
social work services.
