Reflecting on Last Week

  • Our WFHS 2017 Graduation was a huge success, in part, because of the care and concern of our custodial staff. They made tremendous adjustments in case we needed to use our gym for graduation. A SHOUT OUT! goes to all of our custodians at each school for their commitment to make our schools shine on a daily basis.

  • Congratulations goes to Kia Coleman, WFHS 2017 Graduate, who received a track scholarship to my Alma Mater, Southeastern Louisiana University!

  • Jarvis Cornish attends our Early Head Start Program for three-year-olds. Our Head Start programs are making great strides in ensuring that our students are making academic progress and are ready for our universal pre-k program. As you can see, our students are well loved from the moment they walk through the door.

EHS Student Jarvis Cornish and Bains Lower Elementary Assistant Principal share a hug before school.

  • Isaiah Armstrong returns two books that he has read this school year.

  • Savannah Worley and Imani McFarland were so excited to participate in the Monday Morning Motivational Time at Bains Lower. They knew all the words to the motivational song, recited the Pledge, the 7 Habits, and the School's mission statement, and sang Happy Birthday to Ms. Mathis!

  • After the students left on Wednesday, our faculties started closing out this year, and from here to August, they will be working on improvements for next school year.

WFMS trains for new software implementation for next year!

Bains faculty creates formative assessments to guide instruction for next year!

  • WFMS's End of Year celebrations were simply fantastic for two reasons: 1) the many student achievements; 2) the program was led by students.

Skylar and Tyler Ernest received the Eddie Harris Award at the 8th grade WFMS Graduation.

Connor Smith celebrates a successful three years at WFMS.

  • Charles "Cheese" Hamilton is retiring after

60 years of service as a bus driver. Mr. Cheese started driving a bus when he was a senior in high school. He has the biggest heart and deeply cared about our students. A SHOUT OUT! goes to Mr. Cheese and all of our bus drivers. We have the best bus drivers in the state. They are so committed to helping our students and will go above and beyond in any way to serve our students and our districts. We should also celebrate how fortunate we were this year. Our bus drivers drove over 100,000 miles in 2016-2017 with zero accidents!

Looking Ahead

  • Driver's Education is back! Coach Grant and Coach Lemoine will be teaching driver's education on May 23-31 (no classes on Memorial Day) from 8:00-1:00 PM. Cost is $450.
  • The Healthy Community Forum is on next Monday, May 22 from 5:30-7:30 at the West Feliciana Library. For more information, please contact Ms. Kim Coulon at the West Feliciana Extension Office at 225-635-3614 or
  • Please pardon our progress. Over the coming weeks, we will be re-crowning the football field and resurfacing the track. In order to have the finishing touches on the football field ready for the first home football game, we must start the work now. Our track's color for next year-- you guessed it-- Royal Blue!

Food for Thought

A special thanks goes to our students, parents, employees, board members, and community for going the extra mile to ensure another great year in West Feliciana Parish Public Schools! THANK YOU!

Terralyn and Trinity Curtis celebrate their success with their mom, Ms. Zanovia Curtis, and grandmother, Diane Chube.

The 2017 WFHS Graduating class earned $2.6 Million dollars in scholarships!

Each year we have an amazing group of students, and the 2017 class lived up to every expectation. Congratulations goes to all of the students and parents of the Class of 2017! A special thanks goes to everyone involved in the lives of these students and a SHOUT OUT! goes to all of the teachers, counselors, and administrators from Early Head Start to High School for leading these students to tremendous success. #BelieveTheHype
