During the first few months of school at West Feliciana Middle, the girl’s Cross-Country team, Alexis Hobbs, Amber Quebedeaux, Anna Wallis, Avery Weeden, Eliza Barrow, Giselle El Bechir, Jyiaimean Brooks, Lillian Wood, Maraina Gonzales, Mary Catherine Lott, Peyton Pirie, and Roslyn McGregor, competed against many different schools.
These girls competed in cross country to support their fellow teammates. The girls competed in meets at Brusly High School, Zachary High School State Park, and the West Feliciana Sports Park. They must run 2 miles in under 20 minutes. At the beginning of the races all the runners are nervous, but once they start, they get in the hang of it. Lots of the girls came close to winning first place.
Coach Grant, who helped the girls prepare for every meet said, “y’all had a great season.” having to compete with Covid-19 was hard, and lots of races were canceled, so the girl’s cross-country team was lucky to get a few races in. Coach Bridjet, the West Feliciana High school girls Cross-Country coach helped the middle school girl’s practice and said to the 8th grade girls going to high school next year, “You all look good for next year”.
Overall, the girls Cross Country team had a good year. For more information, you can talk to cross country team members or some of the cross-country coaches.
