WFMS students are empowered to take on leadership roles in many ways. On October 10, 2018, these students traveled to Bains Elementary to meet their “reading buddies.” Bains teacher Marilyn Polhmann said, “My kids loved reading to their middle school buddy! It’s definitely a win-win!”
The Reader Leader partnership between WFMS and Bains will continue throughout the 2018- 2019 school year with monthly visits. The middle school students support these immerging readers by helping them select books, reading with them, and encouraging them as they take their AR tests. Mrs. McMillan (WFMS) and Mrs. Polhmann (Bains) were determined to make this partnership a reality and their efforts are evidenced by the smiling faces of the younger and older students alike. Mrs. McMillan said, “It was beautiful to see the synergy in the room.”
